Get Involved
If you are interested in using the LEP curriculum materials or becoming a facilitator for LEP workshops you need to attend either an educator in-service or a facilitator workshop. LEP and our state coordinators are continually planning and holding workshops throughout the country. The calendar on this web site includes information about currently planned workshops and is regularly updated. New workshops are constantly being added, so please keep checking if one is not listed for your area.
We are flexible and willing to work with interested people to bring a workshop to your area. The LEP has been very successful at creating partnerships with other organizations throughout the U.S. to sponsor both facilitator and educator in-service workshops.
We encourage you to contact an LEP staff person (or the coordinator in your state) for more information about workshop organization, costs and/or co-sponsorship.

There is an LEP state coordinator in South Dakota but I don’t know of one in your state. Perhaps traveling to a nearby state will work and Janine will know if there’s an upcoming workshop scheduled. If all else fails, perhaps you could start the financial and travel planning to attend the National LEP workshop in Baraboo, WI June 25-28, 2009 which includes an LEP educator workshop. I can guarantee it will stimulate and excite you about ASCA and the LEP materials. You will be inspired with a trip to the Shack and the company of others who believe that developing a personal land ethic is important and worthy of one’s effort.

LEP is international. Janine has trained people abroad and it is being used in China, Africa, Vietnam, Canada and Russia. In addition, ASCA has been translated to Spanish and German, but I believe those are out of print.
Your best bet is to contact Janine to get more information.

I attended LEP Educator Training in Peoria, IL more than 10 years ago and once attended the Conference at The Shack. I used to teach nature writing and nature writers in my American Lit classes in high school, using A Sand County Almanac and A PRophet for All Seasons. I am a contributing author for River Project (SIUE) Language Arts Curriculum and trained teachers in the River Project curriculum under Dr. Robert Williams for more than 10 years.
I have since retired to AZ and would like to get re-involved. I would enjoy helping with LEP in AZ but can’t locate anyone involved here in the Mesa area.
