<p>Luann Sewell Waters is a conservation and environment educator with over 25 years experience teaching in workshops and seminars across the United States.</p>
<p>A native Oklahoman, Luann has a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Wildlife and a Masters of Science in Science Education, both from Oklahoma State University.</p>
<p>She has done TV programs, seminars and workshops on wildgame and Dutch oven cooking throughout the country, often combining information about Aldo Leopold in the process.<span id="more-70"></span></p>
<ul>
<li>In 2009, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Oklahoma Association for Environmental Education.</li>
<li>In 2004, she was honored as Outstanding Alumnus of the Oklahoma State University Zoology Dept.</li>
<li>In 1998, she was selected as the National LEP Educator of the Year and is the State Coordinator for Oklahoma.</li>
</ul>
<p>Professional memberships include: Outdoor Writers Association of America.</p>
<h6 class="bio">How long have you been a coordinator?</h6>
<p>She has been state coord. of LEP in Oklahoma since 1997 and trained in LEP in 1994.</p>
<h6 class="bio">How are you using LEP?</h6>
<p>She uses LEP in library programs, teacher in-service trainings, college credit courses, at outdoor skills training workshops such as Becoming an Outdoors-Woman and as part of journaling workshops.</p>
<h6 class="bio">What are your primary goals for the coming year?</h6>
<p>Goals for the coming year include increasing the visability &amp; knowledge of the program in Oklahoma and expanding the audience of users of the curriculum.</p>
<h6 class="bio">Why do you think LEP is important and how would you like to see people get involved?</h6>
<p>LEP is important because it combines conservation education with a great piece of literature and helps get participants outdoors.</p>
